I can't remember the name of this movie!
A town or city is on fire and has to be evacuated... in one scene a childrens ward in a hospital is being evacuated by a fat nurse, she gets all the kids out but is then crushed by a wall of a collapsing building.
This is all I remember of the film.
I saw this movie when I was a kid on British television in the 80's and have been trying to find it ever since. PLEASE HELP! Thanks....

...believe it or not, the answer to your question is IN your question!!!

You're talking about one of the lesser known disaster movies, from the late 70's, entitled "City on Fire" (1979); I remember seeing this film at the drive-in.

A disgruntled worker unleashes flammable chemical agents into the city's sewers, from a chemical plant conveniently built right smack in the middle of the city.

Leslie Neilson (before his "Airplane" and "Naked Gun" days) plays a corrupt city mayor, who was responsible for having the plant built, in the first place, and Henry Fonda is the city fire chief, who has to contend with the disaster. Barry Newman is the lead city physician, who has to contend with the onslaught of patients at the downtown hospital, as a result of the dire situation taking place; he also has to deal with the shoddily-built conditions of the hospital, the ever-dwindling medical supplies, and the ultimate evacuation of the facility.

...I trust that this is what you were looking for!!!

I did like some 70 's and early eighty disaster flicks like Barron Blood, Swarm, Humanoids From the Deep, Scanners, Patrick, The Legacy. They scared me back then, yet now I recognize the way korney they were.

You've really got me going now. There's another scene where they are evacuating the hospital and they have hoses training water on them but the water is drying as fast as they can pump it. I can't remember what it's called either. Sorry!

Was it - When time Ran Out (1980)?

I think it's called, "Fire!" (1977) A convict starts a fire in a forest to cover his escape, but the fire goes out of control and threatens to destroy a small mountain community.
