Larger number is n and the smaller number is n-8.

(n-8)/n = 5/7 Cross multiply.
7n-56=5n Simplify.
2n=56 Divide by 2.
n=28
n-8=20

The two numbers are 28 and 20.
Check by reducing 20/28 to see if it is equal to 5/7 ... which it is.

28 and 20
Just multiply 5 and 7 by the same number until the larger one is bigger by 8, in this case, multiply by 4
