Easy. Divide the polygon itno 2 figures-two trapezoids. First use the formula 1/2h(b1+b2) on the left one. That would be 1/2(16)*6+23. This equals 232. Now find the area of the right one. 1/210*16+23. This equals 195. Now add them together (232+195) and you get 427! =)

You have two trapeziums.

A = 1/2*(23+16)*10 + 1/2(23+6)*16
= 427

The figure is two trapezoids - one on each side of the dotted line that says "23".

Left side: Add the two bases and divide by 2.
23+6=29
29/2=14.5 Multiply by the height of that trapezoid which is 16
14.5*16=232

Right side: Same process
(23+16)/2*10=195

Add two trapezoids for total
232+195=427 sq. units

Divide it into rectangles and triangles.

Area = [(17)(16)]/2 + [(7)(10)]/2 + (6)(16) + (10)(16)

The numbers in the original drawing should be written better.
