THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

There is a very easy process to calm it down: Take him out of your actual tank and keep him in a seperate or holding tank for 3-4 days, alone. Then re-introduce it back to the old fish tank, after doing some minor changes in the interior decoration of the tank (if you have rocks, plants etc).

The fish will become a new comer in the old tank, and there is a 50% chance it will stop bullying for a long time.

I have tried this very successfully with Oscar and Angels.

Thanks
Nemo

Try removing him into a temp home for a few days. Go redecorate the old tank, move things around, change some of the decorations out for new ones. Then introduce him abck to the tank.

I have heard of people who keep fish like these that keep extra rocks and things to swap in and out to prevent territorial aggression from territorial fish.

I have this problem too. But I find that if you have more then one of the same type of fish that the gourami bullies, then the gourami will back down. I have 2 mollies now, and my gourami won't bother them at all.

They are very territorial fish. You should only keep 3 of them together, that is if you want to keep more than one. They dont go good with other fish either, but provide him alot of hiding places because they love to stay out of site when they feel like it, which is most of the time. Depending on the size of you tank, it is not good to keep alot of them together. If you have a 20 gal I only suggest 4, for a 10 gal only 2, and less than that 1.

That's pretty typical for a gourami. They can be bossy.

Make sure to provide plenty of plant material, either fake or real, for the other fish to hide in. You could also provide flower pots tipped on the side or pieces of wide PVC pipe to lay in the bottom for the other fish to swim into and hide.

hello, i think i may have the solution to keep your gourami, after research i did for my own fish, maybe your gourami is spawning getting a female and if possible lower a bit your temperature, friends told me after he lowered his temp about 1 degree celcius it never bother another fish aggressively as before, i know you dont want to remove the fish from your aquarium so you may give it a try.

This is tricky, i would isolate your gourami in another tank or get a tank divider. I had a gourami that was territorial, and i just rearranged the ornaments and plants and my gourami was normal.
