I have a friend, she just had a baby whose 2 months old, and the guy she was with decided he doesn't want 2 be w/ her anymore so she has nowhere 2go. Her mom disowned her & her dad lives out of town. SHe has a car but it doesn't run, and pretty much just her personal belongngs (I live in a dorm that's why she can't stay w/ me). Does anyone have any information on what she needs 2 do and where she might be able to go. She stays in Douglasville, GA and is 20 years old. Has a 2months old and does not work (looking). Please help.
Thanks.

Try the Yellow pages for homeless shelters. Perhaps some churches will take her in and help. There are some city and federal centers that will help. If you have an "Information and Referral" number in the book, you can call for ideas.

Another thought: Would she be willing to give her child up to foster care or open adoption?

There is a shelter at 1755 Sandy Lane in Douglassville.
The phone number is 770-949-4911. Screw calling, show up in person with baby in tow. Who in their right mind can turn away a not yet adult and a sweet 2 month old?

It sucks when people tell you to go to a shelter then do not even offer a number for the shelter they are telling you to go to.

She is under 21 and therefore is eligable for a lot of services through the welfare office in Douglassville. Especially with a young baby.

Adults are eligable for help to.

She can and will get money, medical care for her and baby and food stamps plus they will help her get a place of her own. It takes patience but it is well worth it in the long run.

No matter what this jagoff says to her she needs to never go live with him again! She WILL end up like this again.

Let Social Services get her, her own Section 8 apartment. A place in her name that no jagoff dude can kick her out of. Ever. She needs security for that baby. Screw this dude you speak of. Her living with him is a dead end. I hope she realizes this now.

Where is the daddy? Is he useless or is he the schmuck that gave her and the baby the boot out of his house?

I saw a 13 year old girl with her 14 year old man in Chicago pushing THEIR twin baby girls around...Everyone asks them "How old are your sisters?" NOT to be rude but because it is crazy for KIDS to have kids..I'd love to say it is unheard of for kids to have kids but sadly enough it is not.
I knew these kids personally, I was there when she gave birth at age 13. She got pregnant at 12. I saw her crying not out of joy but misery wishing she used bc. Her life is over she said and no one was quick to disagree either..The baby is the real victim here.

Newborns are not going to give you the "love" you feel you never got. They are capable of very few things. They are not capable of complex emotions just yet.

Live your life, travel, meet a foreign man and fall in love and cry your heart out on the plane when you need to fly home leaving him behind, buy clothes and shoes, be selfish, embrace your young femininity, strut your stuff, etc..Be a kid, be a teenager, be a young woman then settle down with a good man, a loving man, a financially stable man and get hitched or not, have a kid in your late 20's/early 30's or wait. Wait till you can pay your babysitter not have Grandma babysit so you can go to your prom! For example..

You most certainly have control over your sex life, except in those rare, extreme circumstances. So, use birth control.

Why is it that all these kids are so freakin happy to be pregger's, then when they are all alone feeding a wailing newborn at 3 a.m. or are saddled with a kid on a nice day when your pals are going to the beach or whatever you're crying and wishing you never had a baby at such a young age?

She needs to go to a women's shelter. They offer food and shelter, but also counseling and resources that will help her get back on her feet. Good luck!
