Whats better? To get your work copyrighted with WGA or copyright.gov. Which one would I be more safe with?

You can and should register it with the WGA. If there is ever a question of infringement or credit for it, they'll be the first-line arbitrarator in the matter. As for registering it for copyright, hey, it can't hurt...

If you are ready to share your script, then the best is the US Government Copyright.

However, if you are still working on it, then do the poor man's copyright and send yourself a copy (don't open the envelope when you recieve it as that verifys the date of the contents, and because of the postal cancelation stamp, it is an Official Document, and can be submitted as evidence.

My suggestion for the poor man's copyright is to place a ATTN: code line and keep a journal of what the code relates go.

For example a poetry collection # 1

Me
ATTEN(OR C/O): PC01
My address
My City, STate, Zip

That way you won't have to wonder ten years from now what is in the envelope

Your script is copyrighted from the moment you write it. You don't need to do anything.

For more information go to: Copyright.gov
