My 7 and a half month-old recently started refusing to nurse, so I need to introduce formula, but I've never had to measure her milk intake before. She's eating 3 meals a day with one snack and juice in a sippy cup. How much formula should she need?

24-32 oz per day is the amount of formula. She'll probably take a 7-9 oz bottle at a time.

NO FORMULA! Many children "refuse to nurse" at this age, but really they are just very easily distracted. Many moms find that they have to go into a quiet, darkened room to nurse so their babies won't be so distracted. I often put my baby in the front facing baby carrier (ergo or moby wrap) and nurse her so that she can't turn to much or crawl away from me.

Babies also go in and out of growth spurts and sometimes eat a lot and sometimes seem like they are hardly eating anything. Your child will not starve herself, so don't worry if she isn't eating as much this week as she did last week. Children need to eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full.
