If car is seldom used, how to keep the battery strong?

The car is kept outside, not in a garage in N.C. Only driven about 4 miles a week normally. Honda 1988 less than 90K.

Start it every so often which automatically charges the battery. Don't let it just sit there.

I bought a small bolt-on 110v. trickle charger. Costs about 20 but it was a Clearance item. I use one on my 3/4t. PU. Only plug in a day or so before you intend to drive it. It is a real good idea to follow the theory of starting and let her idle for 5-10 min. as Ol boy said. The fishing community makes a solar charger for trolling motors but IDK on the universal application of this device. Deep cycle batteries are a different breed than autos. Never hurts to ask someone though. The worst they could do is say no. Nothing lost!!!!

I agree with the one who said to start and run it periodically. If this is impossible due to going out of town for extended periods of time, I would suggest a solar-powered trickle charger. They sit on your dashboard in the sun, and plug into your cigarette lighter. One place to find them is jcwhitney.com.

You can keep it unconnected or keep it on a charger.
