As captain of the Flying Dutchman he can only go ashore every 10 years and he left Caylpso/Tia his wife Calypso cheated on him by dating jack so Davy Jones sent his ship 2 the depps and barbosa got it and jack stole it.
In #2 tia said it was a woman he fell in love with gibbs say he heard it was the sea tis says SAME story DIFFERENT versions and ALL are TURE

From what I understood from the movie, Calyspo broke Davy Jones' heart but not coming to be with him when they were able to not from cheating on him with Jack.
And as far as Tia/Gibbs saying two different things... I guess they meant that the woman (Calypso) was kind of the goddess of the sea.
The whole story was kind of misleading and hard to follow. For me, anyway.

Davy Jones hates everyone, but he especially hates Jack because he is trying to evade his debt.
The story that the writers explained on Wordplayer and through information that used to be on the pirates website claimed that Jack was once a merchant and sailed under the East India Trading Company. When Jack didn't follow an order, Beckett ordered his ship sunk and branded Jack a pirate. Jack had Jones raise his ship from the depth and made a deal that he would serve 100 years aboard the Dutchman for 13 years as captain of the Black Pearl. When Jack didn't follow this agreement, Jones became angry with him.

no what happened is at some point 12 years before the first movie, Jack had made some kind of deal with davy to get the pearl out of the depths. He only had the ship 2 years before barbossa marooned him on the Island and took it. then in #2, 13 years has gone by and davy wants to collect on his end of the bargain(jack's soul, 100 years of servitude) jack then makes another bargain-100 souls in place of his, collected in 3 days. but then jack sends will to get the key, Elizabeth to find the chest with the heart in it, and davy knows after will takes off with the key that jack is to blame. so he sends the kraken after jack and the pearl and liz cuffs his *** to the ship, and after the kraken takes jack, davy discovers the heart is not in the chest and blames jack for that also. so that is why he hates him.
what i have been wondering is how jack knew in #1 that they needed will's blood to break the curse. He seemed to know as soon as will told his name before breaking out of the jail. also he only found out the curse was real a few minutes before that when the guy grabbed his neck and said"you know nothing of hell" So if jack had not seen or heard from barbossas crew after the marooning until that time, HOW DID HE KNOW BOOTSTRAP HAD SENT THE MEDAL TO HIS SON AND THAT THE BLOOD HAD TO BE REPAID?? ANYONE??

Davy Jones hates Jack, because Jack made a deal with him, and now Jack is not holding up his end of the deal. Davy Jones agreed to raise the Black Pearl and let Jack be captain for 13 years in exchange for Jack's soul.

No... what happened was Davy Jones caught Jack in a bind. You know right before Davy Jones kills someone he asks "do you fear death"? And if the person says yes, Davy Jones bargains with them, so they are on the crew on the Flying Dutchman forever. Well apparently Davy Jones says that to Jack Sparrow, i don't know when, the movie doesn't say, Jack Sparrow begs with Davy Jones. Davy Jones makes an offer with Jack Sparrow and says if you get 100 souls to work and be in my crew, then you will be off scot-free. Well we know Jack Sparrow, he says he will get the 100 souls for Davy Jones as quickly as possible....well he doesn't, and if you remember in the 2nd movie, Jack tries again to bargain with Davy Jones saying that Will Turner is worth about 10 souls to him, if Will decides to be on his crew. Well as it turns out Jack doesn't give Davy Jones the 100 souls in exchange for his...so as you now....Davy Jones hates Jack.

I though Davy Jones was sentenced to save the souls who were lost at sea. He was able to keep his spirit & body entacted as long as he delivard the souls.
However, He choose to break the rules and go pirating for booty & treasure. So for each soul stuck in "Davy Jones Locker" he became more and more like that octerpus. Yes he hated Jack ... but he hated Jack before the curse becuase their personalities just don't mesh ... add to that the insult that Jack escaped the curse ...well, that was major insult to injury!!!
Caylpso didn't make the 10 year bargin with Davy but gave it to William because she's a romantic. Davy miffed Caylpso major, and we got SOME of what miffed her ... but they're much more beneath the surface of what we saw. William went and saved the souls that Davy neglected (Elizabeth's Dad for one) and this allowed him time with Elizabeth, and a contract with Caylpso.
