Does anyone know where I can find some good information about the city? Maybe pictures of how it looks, census information like what type of people are down there (ie: age, religion, nationalites, average family size, etc..) I have never moved outside of Colorado, and I like the fact how small it is. Is the mentality of the town a small town mentality, or a big town. Are people nice to new people or is it more of a "you don't belong here attitude"? If you have ever or currently live in murfreesboro or visited for an extended period of time your input would be much appreciated. We are looking for a time to go out to visit, but my curiousity is peaked right now ;)

First of all, Murfreesboro is not that small (about 100,000 and growing daily). It is the fastest growing city in Tennessee and one of the fastest in the country. There is a large college there (about 25,000 students) Middle Tn State University.
It is a nice place to live. There is plenty to do both in Murfreesboro and in Nashville (a 20-30 minute drive down
I-24) There is plenty of new housing to choose from in many different areas. (www.realtracs.com put in your target price range and that will give you an idea). Also, the housing market in the Boro increases on average 8-9% per year. So, you get a good return on your investment when you buy a home here.
People are nice, lots of young people who graduate from MTSU stay on and live here and work either in Murfreesboro or commute to Nashville.

note...Murfreesboro is just outside of Nashville TN... a very big city. Plus the connector Interstate 840 Is soon to be completed...thus connecting 3 major routes I-40, I-65, and I-24. I have actually been monitoring area and I expect its population and size to increase dramatically over the next few years.

Tennessee is pretty anytime of the year and the people you meet are as nice as the ones they meet.

Try to see Stones River or the Murfreesboro National Battlefield site as it is 'bout all there is to see in Tennessee, take another step and go see the George Dickle Distillery just down the road apiece from Murfreesboro PIke.

I know a couple that moved to Murfreesboro. They jumped in fully, buying a house and everything. They lasted about 8 months and have since moved back. Of course now they can't sell their house as no one wants to live there either.

Huge change for you, and not a good one either. The "idea" of a small town is much nicer than the reality. Oh well we learn from our mistakes...

The Chamber of Commerce will send you a packet. WWW.Tennessean.com is the local paper. The "Boro" is a smaller town, and a collage town, but just a hop, skip and a jump from Nashville.. I live about 20 miles from there, and have very few complaints. Come on Down!!!!!!!!

Here's a link to the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce site:

http://www.rutherfordchamber.org/

Most regions like this offer a relocation guide for sale, with additional information not found on a website. They're good to pick up.

Tennessee is a wonderful place to live. There are farm lands and there are nice cities. Yes, people are very welcoming. and most I've met are eager to help if you need something.
