She's not wrong. Sea pirates still operate off the coast of Seychelles in Africa. See the news article below.
Granted, they don't look like Jack Sparrow, but they're pirates nonetheless. There are also digital pirates who make unauthorized copies of digital media.

dpends on what you call a pirate ship, the tall ships, which look like pirate ships sail all the time....plus their are still people in the ocean practicing piratism, though they now have speed boats, and automatic wepons and thins of that nature instead of swords and cannons

there is not one pirate in the sea.theres a lot!
they operate in africa,asia,and rarely in other places.
but if you were asking about ghost pirate ship look in the place were the British Navy Killed 1000's of pirates and destroyed ships!

Somalia had some modern day pirates shooting at a cruise ship with a grenade launcher. People are shot for their yaughts.

there are still pirates out there, there are lots of them in caribbean areas, modern pirates are out there so im sorry but your friend is right. search piracy on wikipedia and youll see what i mean.

"Pirating" is alive and well and still flourishing world-wide, and pirates are still stealing, still plundering, and still murdering innocents.
Sailing vessels of the size and era of the Pearl still exist, and still sail...for purposes of historical demonstration, usually.

a few people in a boat began shooting at a cruise **** a few months ago i believe they were considered pirates. so i believe thier still out there
