Maybe you could ask him straight up "why do you lie?" There are many reasons people lie. Maybe he feels like he will never measure up, or you will get mad with the things he does. These are not good reasons or excuses.... their could be some deeper issues or things he is hiding because he is scared and doesn't think he is good enough for you. Try talking to him about this and maybe even suggest counseling for the two of you to straighten out some issues. Let him know you love him and are willing to work with him through this problem. Good Luck.

Everyone lies; fact of life; some people go to far and get obsessed about creating lies on a daily basis to keep their lives more interesting. I sometimes lie or exaggerate my funny stories just to make it funnier. Your husband could also have a condition (compulsive lyer) ; in that case its hard for people to change. Its like an addiction- and he should get help. Or perhaps you are intimidating him to make him feel that he has to lie for your approval? Or he might just be numb to all his lies and simply has lost all care in his actions- which is not fair to you; and that needs to change. You must tell him seriously that you won’t stand for that! Best of luck.

It becomes habit I think...people want to always say the right thing, but the sad fact is nobody can say all the right things. I know when I do I'm trying not to hurt someone's feelings or I'm scared of what somebody will think of me...Though I shouldn't lie ever, my bad...

I think it starts out because people don't like the person that is revealed when the truth is told. Then it just becomes a habit and people lie because it's their norm.

Because he has no honor and no sense of responsibility. Why did you marry him? Or is it because you treat him more like he's your kid than your husband and he has no choice but to lie and rebel against you?

Fear or power. Fear of being less than that which they think others expect of them or power in order to impress the weaker person. Both sins of the Devil who is known as the father of lies. Any of you have lying partners? Dump them. Today.

well I've lied to my wife over small BS things and its not cool ever and i wish I'd never done it. we split up and i lied more because i was worried she'd never have me back, that hasn't helped any and is just one of many things i regret. try talking to him tell him you know the truth and he needs to fess up, cause believe you me, it only leads to bad things that you can never take back and it truly hurts the ones you love.
