Americans will be the first to denounce our OWN troops and politicians for any abuses, why do more Muslims not speak out against radical Islam and the atrocites committed by terrorists?

Didn't ask why they don't condemn Islam as a religion. I asked why they do not condemn the actions of extremists.

Good point. And humanolive's answer shows you how 'tolerant' Muslims are. Notice two things about the answer, first he is implicitly supporting extremism by somehow blaming it on the conflict in the ME (it is OK for them to kill us since we support Israel), second note his hate for Jews. What he is saying is that it is ok to kill Jews and all those who support them.

I've kind of answered this before...but I can say a few more things....

it is not that all of us do not condemn terrorism... but so many are too busy saying things like,

"I am not the one who flew those planes into the towers...so why should I apologize?" or "terrorists are not real Muslims"

ok, so we do what we can to tell people who question us about it and think we should all apologize for it...but we aren't really doing what should be done to voice our condemnation to the terrorists themselves.

you see, I do believe that I do not have to apologize to Americans for what terrorists do. But I do my best to speak out against it how I can...and right now that is on the internet. I am not in the USA right now and as I said before I am in a rich Muslim country where the people are too busy showing off to others how wealthy they are (or doing whatever they can to create the illusion they are wealthy).

We should be gathering out in huge numbers to protest like all those who were out there after the Danish cartoons and when the Pope made those statements in his one speech. We should be out there shouting out and holding signs that say things like, "We are against those who commit violence in the name of Islam", and "stop hijacking our religion to spread your hatred"

Now, I will say that yes, there are sooo many who are condemning terrorism online... there are many websites and Muslim forums discussing these issues and many condemnations from Muslims... but physical action... going out and protesting is the best way to get the message to the terrorists.

I personally right now think that too much has happened recently that has made more people want to become terrorists, or even to support terrorism(those who would never do the violence themselves but think people deserve to be attacked by terrorists)...and then is also going to create more future terrorists. And now the work to try and stop it is a much much longer, and harder road.

If you do not speak out against it you support it. Hence the answer to your question is that they support the actions of the Terrorists and are not going to speak out against it. A recent poll in the USA showed that young Muslims side with the terrorists and what Osama stands for.

Because it's a FACT that 1 in 4 muslims in this country believe that suicide bombings are perfectly justified. Why is it that muslims and muslim countries always deny any part in terrorist attacks, but you'll never hear any of them stepping up and actually CONDEMING the attacks? Because secretly they aren't bothered by it. If they were they'd say something.

Kind of like the old saying, you can the girl out of the country, but you can not take the country out of the girl. Same applies here, I think.

Their Holy book teaches religious salvation through violence. It teaches that individuals can be martyred for sacrificing themselves to the Jihad. They will not speak out against the core tenets of the teachings of their religion. That would be like a Christian speaking against the Bible.

I'd like to know that myself. I'd also like to know why they aren't stepping up to help their brothers in Darfur.
