We still rent occasionally. If its a movie that we already know we like we usually buy a used copy from the video rental place, or on Ebay. The rental fees have gotten so high at some of the big chains that it often makes more sense to just go ahead and buy the movie. Since I then own it and don't have to worry about a due date I can loan it to my friends with no worries. Since I'm already a video library to some of my friends they are usually nice enough to loan me movies when they get new ones. I don't think there are as many people downloading videos as you think, its illegal, usually poor quality, and time consuming. I've never tried to download a movie my self but I've seen a few that someone else downloaded and I don't know why anyone would bother.

I work in a rental shop and people are always in renting. I think it's expensive and if I didn't get them for free then I don't think I would waste money renting them. The online places probably give better deals as well but surprisingly lots of people still come to the shop.

No one does it in the 21st century. All the DVD rental shops you see on high street are there to money launder! They don't rent DVDs as such and they would go out of business if money laundering wasn't an option!

People still rent women though despite being the oldest profession known to human kind!

I do sometimes, but to be honest, the offers from companies on the internet are a lot better than the local renting shop.

I found tesco to be great, it was about £13 to have 3 dvds at a time, and for as long as you wanted, you made up a list of the dvds you wanted and they dent them in order, it was only about £9 if you wanted one at a time!

maybe!

I get Blockbuster DVD online memberhsip for about a moth and then rent like hell to catch up with films and watch hours and hours and then stop for about four months and then reload...

I wouldnt go into the shop now for DVD even to rent them....

I am now contemplating just watching what is on tv because I always catch late night movies or bank holiday movies and the channels are premiering the movies in three years anyway...

I went to see Superman III and thought that film and alot of the trailers I have seen I can wait to pick up on DVD or seethem on TV ...

None of the films that are released are like comets in the fact they are distributed they will be around forever and replayed on TV....

The only recent film I saw this year that I thought would be good in the cinema is Zodiac that I could not have waited for...

I am now interested in just keeping up with the time and seeing films for their production value and not story line...

I also am interested in pre 1980 films like never before and will only be able to get them online....

I think unfortunately because of the computer and internet and recently video websites which mean you can watch the latest prison break etc.... the local video outlet is dying but there will always be dvd and video shops in the sense there are always old record shops.....

Not at all, atleast where I am, my boyfriends parents have a thing where they pay like 20$ a month and get as many movies as they want to rent a month. My best friends parents do it too. But my family does netflix where they just send them to you. Alllot of people are probablly doing things like that, so they dont go to the actual store all the time. Or people are watching movies online, that could be it too.

I still rent dvds, and still see lots of poeple in the store. I especially like the no-late-fee policy most places are adopting now. My computer is not able to download/burn dvds; I suppose if it were, I wouldn't rent as many movies.

I still rent DVD's. We don't have a cinema here any more. The Cinema was sadly the first casualty of the invention of home VCRs.

I still go to the cinema too: I just have to travel. I love films.

Rent them, buy them, see them on the big screen.

I can't remember the last time I rented a DVD. I just use Sky or download now.

People sadly download free movies now, rather than renting them.
