how can i clean my daughters comp of all these things she has been running with no spy ware precaution and her comp is seriously infected i cant open any thing up in it she has no back up of her comp no boot up disk i cant format the hard drive as i cant get to a d or a drive i have found a hammer and it is becoming very tempting

If your daughter has lost her computer cd, you can contact the manufacture of the computer and they will send you a new one, they may charge you 15-30 dollars or it might be free. HP sent my sister hers for free.

Ok lots of these guys did not read your question fully. You cannot do most of what they suggest as you can't get anything running. Harrison may have the answer but did not explain fully. Try this Switch on and tap the F11 key repeatedly, if you're lucky you may get a screen which offers to reinstall windows. If not repeat using F8, if still nothing work your way through all the F keys. If you do het the option to reinstall remember that this will return your computer to factory settings as new and you will lose everything on it. If you get it up and running then protect it for the future.
I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

If you have a comp made by a major mfgr, you can ask for another OS disk. There is also a keycombination where a hidden partition has a copy of your os, all drivers, and all preinstalled programs (you will still have to do updates). On my computer it is control f11. If you have vista it is often in f8. The next thing is to make sure your daughter knows that "free music" isn't free, it's usually loaded with viruses.
