I'm pretty good at simplifying square roots, but these two are a little tough for me. Can someone help me out?

1. the number 54 (underneath the square roots sign. Sorry, I don't know how to type those)

2. the fraction 10 over 32 (again, with the square roots sign)

Thanks!

1. 54 is 3√6
because 54÷9=6 so you unsquare 9 and thats 3 and the 6 stays under the square root.
2. √(10/32) is √5/4 <4 is not under a square root
because the denominator cannot be under a square root you must reduce the fraction to its lowest terms...
√(10/32)=√(5/16)
since the √16 is 4 the answer becomes √(5)/4

ooo and if you have a mac you make a square root by doing option and v.

54=27*2 = 3*3*3*2

sqrt(54)= 3*sqrt(6)

10/32 = 5/16

sqrt(10/32) = 1/4*sqrt(5)

1. The square root of 54=9 X sq.rt. of 6
2. The sq. rt. of 10/32 (fraction)=(sq. rt. 10) / (sq. rt. 32)
=(sq. rt. 10) / (4 X sq. rt. 2) multiply by (sq. rt. 2) / (sq. rt. 2) to get rid of the radical in the denominator
=(sq. rt. 20) / 8
=(2 X sq. rt. 5) /8

sq. rt. is my abbreviation for the square root symbol
