Here's what I think: Liberals speak up for the underdog. Liberals ask questions, and then take the answers to promote change. Most folks are not big fans of change. Liberals are the front-runners who challenge the status quo and shake folks up.
Liberals have also gotten a bad name because they are very often associated with non-popular ideas like socialized medical care. Sometimes I wonder if people even really know what that means! It is not a Marxist view... it is merely making a standard of living accessible to all. It's fundamental, but money gets in the way of good. The word 'Liberal' to some folks means: My tax dollars are going to pay someone else's bills. I think it ironic, for if you asked most people what they would do if they saw someone hurt on the street, they'd say that they would help - it is the human thing to do, after all.

Because many of their views send the country in a bad
direction. They have an idealist philosphy but this is not an
ideal world! Our leaders can't be afraid to do what needs
to be done, even if its distasteful. Losing family members
in a war (not Iraq) that could have been prevented is most
distasteful. Liberals wave an example in front of voters of
how "it" should be and rally voters to gain power. A
relative who worked as a congressional page assured me
that its the same on both sides. There are a precious few
in Washington who are trying to do whats best for the people.
Who???? Look for the ones who are unpopular with other
congressmen/senators. I digressed a little but maybe it was
worth it.

I don't hate liberals, I just don't like their twisted views on
things. People are entitled to their own beliefs but when they
fail to consider the adverse reactions of doing or not doing
some of the things that need to get done, it ticks me off.
They are also quick to bash the other side often neglecting
that their side also voted for the same things, and very
often post no proof to comments that they make.
EDIT: Hey Hugh Jardon, windfish didn't say Michael Moore
was an elected official, he said that Michale Moore gave
Liberals a bad name and his movies do nothing more
that to BASH the conservatives.

They don't understand liberals so they hate them. It is normal.
This might help people understand what liberals are:
LIBERALS
Liberals share a belief in individual rights, free enterprise, representative democracy, and the rule of law. In this sense, almost all Americans accept liberal ideas. So much so that it is easy to forget how revolutionary these ideas were when the American Constitution was written. Thomas Jefferson said, “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with more.” All of our founding fathers considered liberalism a foundation of “the great experiment”. America since Reagan, liberalism has been colored to appear weak and elitest and our military force is used to intervene in other nations affairs.
Think liberal, think BIG.

I think it's mostly because they have fallen for the old divide and conquer tactic that our chummy old politicians try to use on us. It really goes to a lack of knowledge of politics and some people just hate those that disagree with them. A bunch of juveniles I say.

Because liberals care about the future of this great land, and conseveratives care only about plundering and amassing large amounts of wealth so they can prove the age old theory that they can't take it with them when they die, and if I sleep with my sister I will not produce a pure offspring.

Liberals tend to be really extreme. For one, they can't answer simple questions, but instead they change the subject. Also, when they disgree with the things you say, they call you an "idiot" or a "bigot".
