1) Educate people to the sciences and math
2) Teach people to understand logic and reason, and recognize when they are basing their decisions on just emotion.
3) Teach people the harm of superstitious belief, including religious belief.
4) Get people to understand that to live amongst each other in relative peace, we have to really think about morality as it pertains to each situation instead of just following ancient lists of impossible rules. We have to recognize that good and bad have more to do with how we deal with each other than what some imaginary being dictates.
5) Create a free market of ideas where each person can express their beliefs and challenge others without government biasing the debate by promoting one worldview over another. Especially, keep religion out of government and allow it to survive or die on its own merit.
If we get those five down, then we'll be better able to deal with any other social, environmental, moral, or economic issues that come up.

Use solar cookers and solar cells to produce energy.
Use plants in the gardens and lawns that don't use as much water.
Use things that last instead of throwaway items.
Use push mowers instead of electrical or gas. Use a laundry line to dry your clothes instead of a clothes dryer. Wash dishes by hand instead of using a dishwasher.
Recycle whenever possible.
