This question & statement will get your hearts pumping.?

Do you believe being gay is biological or a choice and is it a sin?
Below I will list Scripture, Science and my own personal experiences. Tell me your thoughts.

Scripture says:
Genesis 2:18 The the Lord God said , "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."
Genesis 2:22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.
Leviticus 18:22 "Do not practice homosexuality; it is a detestable sin.
Science says:
According to Bogaert, men with no older brothers have about a 2 percent to 3 percent chance of being gay. If they have three or four older brothers, the rate goes up to about 5 percent.Bogaert said, however, no similar link has been found in lesbians.
My experiences:
I've dated women. My first sexual experience was with a woman. So does it mean that since I'm now married to a man that perhaps it truly is a choice to be gay or straight? And don't say I was never truly gay because my past acts would prove different.

Being gay, liking fat woman, skinny woman, fat men, fat men ,and whatever fetish people have, is a choice from the upbringings of the family. Some people sleep with animals, some people sleep with kids, these are not natural, these are choices, maybe the person didn't have a choice because he or she was exposed to the act as a young age, but it will never be biological.

Well, I believe that first it was a choice. But, sexual preferences (not necessarily between men and men, but between men and the many physical features of women) are influence somewhat by biology. Then let's say that there is a point mutation. Instead of a man wanting a certain type of woman with certain features, he now wants a man who has those features. Also, I believe that if a ritual is practiced over a long period of time, it can become somewhat biological since it will them be incorporated in a person's environment and environmental change will trigger modifications based upon natural selection. The scriptures you cited above, I assume, are related to the Sodom and Gommorah incident in the bible. That's my opinion. I think nowadays, it could be both somewhat biological, but majority I think is choice. Some children at a very young age show homosexual preferences without ever being expose to it in the first place. On the other hand, many adults and teens who have had bad relationships where they are damaged completely from trusting someone from the other sex can change their orientation. Or, you can just experiment since we're much more free to think outside the box. Whatever your thoughts are, I'm sure there's a surmountable amount of evidence to support. Good Luck in finding your asnwer and I hope I helped you somewhat.

This question is not "new". Psychology has long debated it. Science still has not been able to definitively determine whether it is a nature or nurture issue. The APA DMS-IV TR no longer lists homosexuality as a disorder, but it did in earlier editions. My own opinion is that a certain set of pheremone cells in the sensory cells of the nose contributes to the tendency somehow... but it will take years of research to find proof or rejection of such an idea.

But more simply... I believe it is both a biological (natural) issue *and* a choice (environmental) issue. One can be homosexual, yet deliberately choose not to engage in the natural tendency toward it, just as you yourself are doing at present.

The question of whether homosexuality is a "sin" is not a question that this section was created to answer... however, just because something may be found to be non-biological (non-genetic or otherwise) does not make it morally "wrong".

My own opinion is that people can be born gay. I also believe that people can be born into the wrong bodies. So a man who feels he was meant to be a woman and thus, has surgery to become one, I feel, these are as a person was meant to be.

I would have to disagree with the terminology in Leviticus. I do not believe that word would have been used in the bible. The word being homosexuality was first used in the 19th century. So what would have been used in the bible? The bible has been changed over time so it stands to follow that the original interpretation has been changed, even now to suit our religious leaders' beliefs.

I do not have a problem with homosexuality, just in how the word is used and I hope your first experience gave you great pleasure. Also remember, you don't have to justify yourself to anybody.

I believe people are born the way they are, the problem is that hetrosexual is the normal way nature intended. If you divided the population into three groups hetrosexuals, gays and lesbians and the three were never allowed to mix how long do you think the gays and lesbians would last obviously not long because they can't reproduce by themselves.
You may have had a sexual experience with a woman but it may have been just an experiment.
As for the study by Bogaert sounds like sh*t to me.

I believe scripture can be interpreted to coincide with a person's own beliefs. I TOTALLY believe that homosexuality is NOT a choice and is completely biological, just as your eye color or mannerisms are not choices. And, no, it is not a sin. I believe in the integrity of a person, not his/her sexual choices.
