Well it's not a real period, as a period is the diaposal of the unused egg and uterus lining, but many women do have bleeding when they are pregnant. Any bleeding should be reported to an OB right away as it could indicate a problem. Sometimes women have implantation bleeding during the first month, so maybe she is referring to that.

It is normal for some to see blood and all be okay, but it is not their period!!!!!!!!! There are many reasons for one to bleed being pregnant or spotting and all can be fine, or have a miscarriage! A period is a dead egg releasing from the body, so a pregnant woman would not be having a period, maybe some old blood or spotting, but not a period!!!!
