Sydney Sheldon. I think he's the greatest mystery/romance author of all time. His books are so engaging and interesting once you start one, you can't put it down until your done. I guarantee you that. You should read any of his book, they're all great.

Isn't it wonderful when we can make a connection to an author?

While I have a number of favorite authors, as a former journalist, I have always loved the writing of Nuala O'Faolain, an Irish Times columnist who has written her memories as well as novels.

Jack London was a very good writer on nature and human nature. Call of the Wild, White Fang, To Build a Fire, etc.

Just 1? Right now it would be Jodi Picoult; though I greatly enjoyed Emily Giffin, Kim Edwards, and Tracy Chevalier

Hmm, I'm very diverse in my readings, so it all depends on genre.
Horror- Steven King
Christian- Beverly Lewis, and C. S. Lewis
Misc.- Scott O'Dell, just found out that he shares my birthday too :)
so those are my top favorite Authors. Enjoy :)

Eoin Colfer rocks! I am completely, totally, and hopelessly addicted to the Artemis Fowl series. I read The Opal Deception, like, every day, I love it so much.

Yes, Eoin Colfer is great (better than Rowling and Snicket), but my current fave is Ken Follett (author of Eye of the Needle and many others). His novels are smart, well written, highly accessible, and just fun to read.

I would have to say Alice Hoffman. Her books have a lyrical and magical quality to them. Definitely worth picking up a copy of one of her books for a great summer read.

My favorite author is Anne McCaffrey. She likes to say that she has green eyes and freckles and the rest of her is subject to change without notice.
