I would say they probably want the points, are bored and maybe they just want the attention too. Also there are the ones that just want to be rude. Those are the ones that annoy me.

You couldn't see the points they got for wasting your time?
Come to think of it, I can't see points either. Never noticed that before. I think Yahoo answers should make them visible and let folks take them away. Maybe if an answer gets 4 or more thumbs down, the person loses the points. Yeah, that would work.

In addition to points, I think people really want to participate on Yahoo to the best of their ability. I honestly believe that many people give "non-answer" answers because they want to be helpful. That said, there is the element that is rude, immoral and unethical on board here just as they exist in the "outer" world.

They do it because they are probably bored at their jobs, without any real objective in their lives but to fill in the 8 hours needed to receive their pitifully low paycheck at the end of the week. Plus, because of some childhood trauma, they feel good by wasting other people's time.

It's the same as people who ask really stupid questions.... hey! like this one!
If you are not going to ask a good, meaningful question, then don't get upset at people who don't give good, meaningful responses.
What goes around comes around.
Oh, and did you lose track of the shift key... it's called "capitalization". And there's this other wonderful invention. It's called a period. It separates declarative sentences. First grade anyone?

You are making those who just want to annoy happy because you're annoyed. Let them be. My guess is, those who do that don't have people to talk to so that's their effort to socialize or get in touch with the world.

They might be voicing their disagreement with the assumptions or premises on which the question was based. Then again, they may just want the two points.
