Rogue dialers are very dangerous as they can run up your telephone bill. And your telephone company will hold you responsible for calls placed all over the world.

Suggest that you run download A2Squared from Austria. You only need the free version, as you will update on a manual basis. Protects/finds, rogue, dialers, keyloggers, worms, malware, spyware trace spyware and rogue cookies.

Also run what is known as "online scanner", direct from the servers of Kaspersky Lab Russia. Rated # 1 in the world for virus detection. No conflict with your current antivirus program.

Will take upto two hours to scan depending on how many running processes you have and how many program you have installed.

After the virus is found if not already found by A2Squared, I suggest you reboot your system after either scan.

Good Luck,

ContraVirus is a fake anti-spyware program that is often downloaded and installed without user knowledge or consent by a Trojan or through browser security holes. ContraVirus launches on Windows startup and may generate large numbers of popup adverts. ContraVirus will also display notifications of imaginary security risks in its attempts to get the user to purchase the full version. ContraVirus program can be extremely difficult to remove manually, and will continue to try to recreate itself. ContraVirus is thought to be related to VirusBlaster.

Scan your PC with these to remove it. Both are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free.

For your dialer problem, I suggest the specialised removal program called "a-squared Anti-Dialer".

"a-squared Anti-Dialer removes and blocks reliably:
Dialers are small programs that change the Internet access number of a modem-equipped computer to a much more expensive number. Costs can rise as high as several hundred dollars per dial attempt."

As you can see, a dialer is nothing to fool around with if you are using dial-up internet access.

Free from:

Good luck.
