I'd only stay there if I had the time to enjoy having the cat cuddling with me. But I work 60+ hours per week, and have two kids, so I have to get up. The cat will go back to sleep on his own, unless he's ready to be fed.

That's a daily thing around here. They usually sense when I wake up and move. If not, the bathroom takes precedence over kitty's comfort!

Our miniature schnauzer does this to us. She crawls on top your head while you are asleep and you'll wake up practically smothered by her. I usually just gently move her to another place close to me and she goes back to sleep. Try doing that. It works for us.

Wonder where it came from, I don't have any cats. Maybe it is my nosey neighbour's cat. She probably put a d*mn spycam in it. I wish she would get a life and emigrate!
