Apart from encroachment on the periphery and potential muggers deep inside, a major problem is that of LITTER. In all the public areas, you will find trash left by visitors - chips packets, Frooti packs, used plates, plastic cups, etc. This problem is totally solvable if the Public changes its littering mentality and carries their picnic rubbish back home with them, or at any rate to a garbage dump outside the National Park. Please people, we are truly blessed to have such a marvellous jungle area within the city limits of Mumbai, please preserve it and remember that you wouldnt like to see other peoples dirty trash the next time you visit, so dont mess the place up yourself. We cannot individually eradicate encroachment or muggers but we certainly can stop littering.

Except encroachment by slum dwellers and few incidents of Leopards coming out of the park to the nearest areas, there is no other problem with the park.

The park is encroached upon by slum dwellers which has disturbed the ecosystem. They now refuse to leave and want permanent houses in the park. Secondly, there are anti-social elements who rob and harass people who venture into the interior areas of the park.
