I just added a new tiger oscar cichlid to my 55gal aquarium. The aquarium is new, but I have tested the ph (7.8 right now and I understand that cichlids like high ph levels), nitrate and ammonia are perfect at 0 and the water temperature is 77-78 which is fine. When I setup the water, I used the water conditioner and put in the stress coat when I added the fish. The fish were floating in their bags for about 20 minutes in the water before I let them free.
One of my cichlids is almost laying on its side in the corner. The other 2 are hiding which is normal but are still fluttering their fins and look fine. So, what could be the problem with my black one? I cant figure out where the problem is.

That's rather normal for Oscars actually. They are famous for sulking just like you describe. He may do it for a day or a week, there is no way to tell, but he will start acting normally eventually. They will do this in response to any changes in their tank. New fish, removing fish, water cahanges, most any thing might make an Oscar do this. It's nothing to worry about at all.

Your 2 Oscars died considering you weren't looking after them precise. The unfavorable water high quality brought about Ick and that they died via ick and unfavorable care. Is your Pleco a consumer-friendly Plecostomus? if so, you are going to need a a hundred+ Gallon tank. Plecostomus advance relatively large, they produce as plenty waste as they sparkling and that they are no longer Algae Eaters. Convict Chichilids want a 25+ Gallon tank. in certainty you're doing each thing incorrect.

was the tank cycled before you put the fish in? Also, the water conditioner removed the chlorine, right?

It's probably just stress--just let them adjust for a couple hours and check back later. Good luck!

Many fish handle the acclimations process differently. Turn off the aquarium light, and minimize movement around the tank. Give the guy time, he might just be stressed.
