I went onto the website and could not find out much information on how to join and stuff. I think it said I needed to buy it as a game to put onto my PC, but I am not sure. I'm really interested in this "Guild Wars" thing because it sounds wayyyyy better than other sites (Runescape, Battleon, ect). I also can't figure out if it is free or not. :/

Guild Wars is a great MMO game. There is no monthly fee so it's great game to buy to "get your feet wet" if you've never played a MMORPG before.
You can buy a copy of Guildwars at any local electronics or game store like Best Buy or Gamestop. Each game is stand alone so you can buy whichever version appeals to you.
I would caution you to ignore 2 of the previous answers given. They are trying to direct you to illegal gold selling sites. It is against the terms of service in most online games to buy ingame gold for real cash. If you are caught, your guild wars account will be banned and the money you paid for the game and the gold will be wasted.

Guild Wars is a game you must first buy in store or online, then buy the expansions for it. To play it online however its free. Do a search on gamestop for Guild Wars you will see what I mean.
and although it is better then games like runescape its still not that great of a mmog (massive multiplayer online game). If you are interested in games like that check out World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, Conan Age of Hyboria and Everquest.
