Petroleum is utterly gone by 2050 and natural gas with it. That is the end of petrochemistry - bulk chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals. Coal is good for 500 years. Mere energy is handled by nuclear.
Don't sweat the small stuff. The Welfare State collapses around 2015 when 60 million Baby Boomers' infinitely plunderable wallets turn inside-out with retirement. End of tax revenues plus minimum $1.5 trillion/year demanded in Social Security and Medicare. Cities will burn.
