QUEEN.

1. The band had 3 (three) singers. Each one could have fronted a band. Each one had a successful solo project.
2. Each member played more than 1 instrument. Every single one of them could play guitar, at least on a 3-cord level (like Freddie)
3. Can you name any other rock singer (other than Freddie Mercury) who could sing opera? (and I don't mean Bohemian Rhapsody - I mean real, proper opera with Mocerrat Caballé)
4. Guitar effects by Brian May is pure science fiction: Queen had to put disclaimers on their 70's albums: "no synthesizers were used" because no one could believe electric guitar could produce such incredible sound effects. On Good Company guitar reproduces sounds of every single instrument of a full jazz band - honestly! His guitar orchestrations (sounding like 2-3 guitars at once) unparalleled to this day.
5. Many guitarists modified existing guitars to fit their needs. Brian's unique guitar was completely home made - he designed and built it from scratch with his Dad. No existing guitar parts were used except pick ups and strings.
6. Freddie designed the band's logo - a good application of his talent and degree in arts from Ealing college.
7. Every single member in the band was also a songwriter.
8. They had talents in other areas besides music: this is the only band where each member had a college degree.

Song writing is not dependent on the amount of talent - in fact, we are talking about different talents here. Malmsten, to refer to an earlier, very bad response, does not play music, he plays guitar. Therefore, everything he and Vai, Satriani, Gilbert, Eric Johnson... do is immensely boring - and I have played guitar for 28 years and do listen to them out of curiosity. Then you have Paul Mc, or Andy Partridge of XTC who are amazing songwriters AND very good musicians, only they don't show it in 17-minute races to squeeze out as many notes per minute as possible. Look at Brian May, too. Hendrix. Clapton. The Beatles had 3 of the most talented songwriters ever in the same place, and it worked well for a long time. So I think it''s a different approach to playing - you have focused monomaniacs who can't cooperate with others because of their ego and obsession with their own goals (and even in songwriting - Roger Waters of Pink Floyd was not a great bassist, but an excellent songwriter, much better than the others, yet that ego...) and then easy-going guys who love making good music no matter what. Less talent is never a good thing.

Most Prog-Rock bands have multiple members who are among the top of their instruments
YES; King Crimson; Emerson, Lake & Palmer; Rush; Asia; Mothers of Invention or any Frank Zappa outfit; Jethro Tull: early Genesis (before Gabriel quit); Gentle Giant; Pink Floyd; Beatles; the Yardbirds (Page, Clapton, Beck);

YES, during it's Union tour had almost every member (current or former) play onstage Anderson, Howe, Squire, Bruford, Wakeman, Kaye, White & Rabin - that's 8 guys, so technically, that is the MOST of any real band, that wasn't a one off tribute concert or recording. And each is recognized as being awesome by their own peers in each instrument/talent.

Black Sabbath.
I know nothing about playing an instrument, but even a lay person can tell that most Sabbath songs have very intricate guitar, bass, and drum sections.
Also, just being able to play something that's hard to play on an instrument doesn't make you a good musician. Being able to blend it with the melody of the other instruments and create something that can withstand the test of time counts a lot too.

Queen, of course, and without a doubt!

Everyone knew how to play several instruments, sang and wrote songs!
OK, John Deacon only did vocals but that's also singing!
Freddie Mercury was also a extremely talented performer and Brian May is an amazing guitar virtuoso.
