Sounds like a five-lined skink to me. Do a search on lizard pictures and see if you can find one that matches what you have.
How did you happen to get a lizard with no identity? If you captured it, and have no idea how to care for it, please turn it loose. If you have taken it from a friend, research it thoroughly.

Sounds like a type of skink. You should really know what kind of lizard you have so you can take the proper care for it.
