Hit rita's italian ice out of friends hand and it hit a girl. What should i say to principle get away with it?

I was in school and my entire sophomore class got italian ice. I hit the italian ice from my friends hand on purpose and it hit a group of people next to us about 4-5 feet away. I got written up to the office. What would be the best story to make up to the principle and get away with no punishment?
