This sounds like something that happened to us about a year or so ago I believe you have a worm. Here is a site that you can go to to get your computer scanned in the event your virus protection is not up to date

When exactly did the problem start?
If you know when it did start then log into your computer through "Safe Mode" and this will give you a bare Operating System.
Then I would try to do a System Restore from maybe a day before the problem started.
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools...then from here select System Restore.
