Yup, your teacher will know just as much about Lincoln as she does about Washington.

1. The Lincoln Douglas debates
2. The decision to preserve the union at all costs.
3. The Emancipation Proclamation.
4. The Gettysburg Address
5. Blueprint for the Reformation. (Pres. Andrew Johnson followed his plan for welcoming the South back into the Union)

Less known accomplishments: Turned down an offer by the King of Siam (King Monghkut) of some war elephants stating that they would not do well in America. This was the same king in "Anna and the King."

The Emancipation Proclamation freed slaves in REBEL TERRITORIES!!! He did nothing about those in the Union so take that off the list. He preserved the Union, after all a house divided amongst itself cannot stand. He rebuilt the broken south after it was crushed by Sherman. That should do for your biography project.

Try Ronald Reagan who brought Russia to her knees and forced the downfall of Communism in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. AND, do your own research. There is a ton of information on him. BTW, your teacher, I am sure, knows as much about Lincoln as about Washington. That's why he/she is the teacher and you are the student hopefully trying to learn!!

Chow!!
