any laptop is fine for school stuff, but for GAMES, you need a DEDICATED 3d graphics card with it's own processor and it's own memory. stuff like "intel gma950" isn't gonna cut it for games.
if you want a decent gaming experience, it's about a $150+ option.
protip: Lenovo is a company that purchased IBM's pc hardware division.
instead of looking at brands, look at specs. brands mean very little and it's possible to buy a bad HP machine (HP is the #1 seller right now) as it is possible to buy a great Dell setup.
they all have intel/amd chips, how much ram, graphics card, ect. is what you really should pay attention to. every PC laptop has windows, so if you want something better than windows, you either go Apple or Linux.

I have a packard bell laptop with dual cpu and a gig or ram, its fine for gaming and you can do school work on it. i spent £675 on mine from pc world

wait, if you are interested, i have laptops starting at $1400 with nVidia 7600 video card, which is great for gaming, and 160gb 5400rpm hard drive.
