you might not need to - just plug it in, and it might work staright away.
If it doesnt, than install the software. It should come with a disc - it doesnt matter what order you do it in

If the mouse came with a CD, put it in your CD drive and follow the instructions on the screen. Somewhere along this process it might tell you to plug your mouse in. Plug it in only after it tells you to, or do so after the installation is complete if it never does tell you to.

You suppose to have a CD of mouse. Just place it on the CD tray and the software will be launched automatically and then follow up the instructions.

depends on the mouse
if it's wireless then just hook the usb part in your usb port lol if that makes sense
and if it's not a wireless mouse there should be some sort of software in the form a disc. put it in your CD-ROM drive and then set it up and use it.

First plug your mouse.(whatever usb or ps/2)
Then insert the driver disk or CD and explore it
In that you will find file named setup.exe
Double click on it and follow the steps.
If you are using Windows 2000/xp/vista most probably the mouse drivers will recognized by the OS.

With most USB devices you install the drivers first and when you plug the device in ( and XP goes bong bing) the drivers find what you just plugged in and off it goes.
