A Greek root is similar to a Latin root, only it comes from the Greek, not Latin.

Example:
"sect" - is from the Greek meaning "to cut". As in "bisect" to cut in two ("bi", of course, from the Greek meaning two).

Or were you asking about a different type of Greek root?

It's a word, prefix, or suffix used in English whose origin or "root" is a Greek word, prefix, or suffix. There are literally hundreds of English words which stem from the Greek.
