i LOVE thunder storms.
when i used to live in Austin...
i would go to the lake to watch the thunderstorms (more lightening strikes near the water), and would bring a good soundtrack (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) to go with it.
i guess if i had wings, i might not like them. either. ;-)
here's a couple of ideas that might help you conquer your fears:
try listening to a good soundtrack or classical music, during the storm. make sure to pump up the volume... it will make the thunder claps seem like they are just accompanying the music.
also, light candles... the candlelight will help you, if you don't like lightening - as the flashes, will blend in with the flickering of the candlelight. also, should the lights go out - you won't freak.
good luck!

So are we. Whoopee I don't have to work in the Yard. But I feel bad for all the people out at Memorial Day services and picnics.
I love thunder storms.

I love them. I always open all the windows and let the sound and the scent of the rain wash through the whole house.
I love the sound of the thunder, the sound of the rain, it's comforting to me somehow. Helps lull me to sleep too!

I love them. I used to be terrified of them. When I was a pup, we were in the car and a bolt of lightning hit a road sign just a few yards ahead of us. It was really scary yet really cool. After that I started reading up on how this happens and what causes thunderstorms. Since then, they don't bother me. It's just nature doing what it does. You should always respect mother nature. Not fear her.

The more violent the better, unless I'm out sailing then no. While a storm is way awesome, at sea I prefer them to be fairly moderate. What a rush...

I'm not afraid of them I'd just rather not have to see the lightening or hear the thunder.

I was only scared of them once. We were vacationing in Utah and lightning was striking every couple of minutes. I was about 8 and we were in this little tin can off a travel trailer. I thought I was going to die.
