We do that on 11th November at 11:00 hours in Canada and other ex British Commonwealth of nations. It is called Remembrance day here but commenced as Armistice day following WW1.

My father was in the UK Royal Navy in WW11 and I feel your sorrow for your brother; those who came home from Nam. were ignored by their nation until the Wall of Remembrance was built in Washington. As a Canadian of that generation, I visited the Wall when it was built and was very sad for all the names who would have been around my age.

The 65th Canadian military person to die (including an active combat woman) in Afghanistan, is being flown home today.

So in a way we will share your Memorial Day up here.
