The breeding requirements are simple! A clean aquarium with the sides and back covered with black plastic, to shield out excess light. A 5-gallon tank will be suitable for most tetras.

No gravel.

Either one will work, but gravel would probably be the better choice as it will hide the eggs from the parents far better than sand.

gravel...beacause tetras are usally freshwater fish
and sand contains lots of salt that can kill your fish
