help about community college?

Question

what is the median age in community college ??
why u choose community college before university beside cheaper?
and I want to take psychology,should I go to community college first or 4 years university?
why some of people have 1 year community college and 4 years university?but some of people 2 years community college and then 2 years university?
is it easier to go to/transfer to great university like university of washington?
how many years to take psychology course?

2. It was an easier transition from High school to Community College to University
3. All Community colleges primarily do is get your prerequisites out of the way so when you transfer to a university you start your major.
4.Because if you are a qualifier who had the requirements to get into a University you can transfer after one year. If you are not a qualifier you have to graduate from the Community College with an AA or AS degree. A qualifier is a person that has the required grades and a qualifying score on the ACT or SAT exams.
5. I don't know about Washington, but in California once you have received your AA or AS you can transfer to any public university in the state provided you meet their requirements.
6. I hate to tell you this but to actually practice psychology in any state you have to have a ph.d.

Other benefits of going to community college first is that if you have other obligations, like family or a job, community college has more flexibility with courses and the location of your community college is closer than the university. Also, if there are other interests other than psychology that you want to pursue, taking classes at a community college will allow you to explore those fields better than at a university, where you have some pressure to pick a major around your second year in college. You really want to check your transfer requirements for transfer. Sometimes, getting an AA or AS will get most of your requirements out of the way, but not entirely.

As for how many years you would need to take psychology courses, after you transfer, you generally can finish your major courses at the university in two years. It depends what type of work you want to get into with your psych degree. There are so many things you can do with it.

many people take the first 2 years at a community college to get the general education classes out of the way which is a good thing to do. ask about the transfer options to 4 year schools from the community college. many people in an article i just read are going back to community college for a trade program after the 4 year school for better job options as liberal arts is a good education it provides little specific job training.

One of the benefits of community college is that you have more immediate contact with the professors (and they are actually teaching the class). Where I go, most of them are extremely helpful. Also, the classes are often smaller. Each university has different transfer requirements, so it's best to have an idea where you want to go, so you can take the right classes. Our school has a transfer center where you can find the info, sometimes talk to counselors from the universities, even take field trips to them. Good luck.

I am not a psycology major. but have few friends who split the courses between Community colleges & Universities. It will save you some time (flexiblity) and fees. most universites do transfer a maximum of 36-90 course units from CC. just check for the one you are about to apply - call the department and get the list the classes you can take from CC. you will be surprised how helpful most department people are. they kind of understand students position & try to help you out
