I was strapped!! When I made my mom mad she would send me to my room and I would have to wait until she came with the strap that was specially made for hitting! It was 36 inches long made out of leather but on one side it had burlap glued to it so there wasn't any slipping !! She would hit me everywhere it didn't matter! The only place she wouldn't hit me was in the face !! She would save the face for her hand !! I know you will find this hard to believe but I don't hate her I loved her !! Now that I'm older I feel sorry for her because she had mental problems and I realize that now !! I smacked my child once when he was little and I threw up!! It brought it all back and I have never hit my child again! The violence stops with me !! If my child does something wrong he goes to his room or I take things away until he behaves !! There are other ways to deal with wrong doings! VIOLENCE IS NEVER THE ANSWER !!

Very rarely physically disciplined, but that option was always on the table and used only in very particular circumstances (never a quick reaction, in fact physical punishment usually was delayed a day - the anticipation was worse than the actual punishment)

I'm well disciplined with love and care by my loving parents. Never sent in my room.

Yes. I remember cutting a limb from the tree for my Dad to spank me with. That was 30 years ago things were different then. Now all a child has to do is tell a school counselor they got a pat on the but and look out your a child beater.

I was spanked occassionally with a wood spoon. My dad once threatened to spank me with his belt but everyone was crying and he said he never would have done it. He only wanted to scare me. I am not opposed to physical discipline as long as parents use self control and are reasonable. It never affected me in any way.

I guess when I was a kid alot of parents were already trying the timeouts. NOT mine though they had the "spare the rod spoil the child" mindset. (Of course with mom it could have been anything from a belt to a switch to condiment holders in the fridge. (mom is bi-polar among other things.)

i get yelled at a lot, and was spanked from time to time, and slapped once or twice, my mom never really sent me to my room because i always had like a tv and a stereo and all that good stuff, and i actully used to have hbo and showtime in there
