How big is he/she?
if your beardie is an adult, it will be harder for them to adapt to a new enviorment. Spend some time with your beardie, you dont have to touch him yet because he might bite you since hes not familiar. Also i would feed him so he knows you will take care of him.

Since there is no such thing as a "wild caught" bearded dragon anymore (not since the 1970's), yours was captive bred - so that part is not the issue.
Try covering the glass around his tank - 3 sides. This sometimes helps them settle in faster.
It sounds like he/she is a bit intimidated - so let him/her out daily to interact with you. The dragon should soon learn that you are not a threat. Try giving it a leafy treat when out - or a waxworm or two. Bribery can work! LOL
Good luck!

if an adult was it wild caught or captive bred it can make a difference, and that's the only thing i can think of that would have him acting that way unless a previous owner teased it a lot or kids were in the household. also you can try placing a background over three of the sides to make it feel more secure and a hide box wouldn't hurt. and don't forget you have to handle it ; start by placing your hand inside the environment without trying to touch,as time goes by get closer and closer ,what ever you do don't jerk and snatch your hand away it will just make things worse and last but not least name him and call his/her name when attempting to handle, lizards can hear and recognize sounds so calm him down with soft tones and patients

He is just stressed. Give him time to settle. Go to www.reptilerooms.com and click on the forums link on the left, then find the bearded dragon section. Great source of info.

relies upon on the keep and additionally the size of the lizard. in the event that they're sufficiently small, they'll pass in slightly around plastic field with a paper towels. in the event that they're too enormous for that however, they'll pass in a cardboard field it fairly is often used for hamsters and birds. nonetheless, the main suitable element to transport them in is a few variety of froth field. in the form you have a styrafoam field laying around great. If not, a styrofoam cup might additionally be solid in case you will discover a thank you to place a lid on it. (Even a makeshift lid will do; purely verify he can breathe.) the assumption is to maintain warmth. of direction, in case you do not stay that some distance away, a automobile journey isn't adequate to truly heart him. =)
