I always say that! We should open a restaurant. Why are parents so RUDE and bring thier kids with them to restaurants if they're not going to be able to control them?

I like the idea! However, parents want the same atmosphere as the rest of the childless diners. The problem reverts to the parents who can't or won't control or discipline their kids. I've seen parents sipping daiquiris while they let the kid run amok in the restaurant and then be offended when I have to return the kid to their seat. If I would have done that as a kid, one of my parents would have caught me, and taken me outside for a good talking to. Parents don't do that anymore. They expect the staff to babysit, and it's not Chuck E Cheese!

Well I guess it would work in some RESTAURANTS(note the spelling), but most bill themselves as FAMILY DINING meaning there will be kids. Next you will be upset because people are leaving their kids at home with babysitters all the time to go out. Didn't your parents every take you out? I am sure you were not the best every single time they took you out. I can also think of many times when our dinner was ruined by a loud adult.

I agree 100%! If we are taken to a table near a screaming child we ALWAYS ask to sit somewhere else. Even my daughter will comment on obnoxious children when we go out in public. We aren't expected to tolerate smokers in a restaurant, why should we tolerate people who refuse to discipline their children? My daughter behaves, or is disciplined immediately. If she continues to misbehave, we leave. She doesn't deserve to be there and no one else deserves to have to put up with her.

I know where you are coming from. I think however the problem is with the parents. They should train their children on how to behave. At least the ones that are over 4 years old.

I think that kids should be allowed in restaurants as long as they behave. When I was a kid my parents toke me and my siblings to a restaurant and there was never a problem.

They should also have a section for grumpy, miserable, ignorant people like you to sit in. If you want a nice, quiet peaceful meal, eat at home.

For adults who prefer not to risk having their meal disturbed by children, there is always the option of patroning a restaurant that is not considered a "family style" or "family friendly" restaurant.

its a good idea, but better yet - why don't they kick out families with bad behaved kids, and allow the well behaved kids to stay?

Children are the most wonderful part of life....leave them
alone! Anyone mean to a child would be mean to anything!
I may not earn 'best answer' status on this, but my children
and grand children will eat at the table I pay for..always
first class.....you can't stand them, you move to the back!
