It can start at any time after implantation because it is caused by different things during pregnancy, for example I'm 5 weeks pregnant and have had BAD heartburn for the last week or so! A few women don't have a problem with indigestion throughout the pregnancy but that's rare. It is usually caused by the digestive tract becoming less efficient and slower during pregnancy to allow more nutrients to be taken from the food you eat. Also, especially later in pregnancy as the uterus expands, pressure on the stomach and organs can cause indigestion.

I'll be 18w tomorrow and I have had it off and on for a week now--more at night after I eat a bigger meal. I think it's different for everyone though. There's an old wives tail that says if you have heartburn your baby has lots of hair! I don't believe any of them, but it's always fun to try and guess!
