I am trying to do some research and once I watched TrueFlow's demonstrations and details, it seems like they have a better filter than K&N.

I have never used the TrueFlow filter but I have the K&N in my current truck and the one before it as well. The K&N helped me to pick up 2-3 miles per gallon better than a new standard air filter.

All drop-in filters of this type are a complete waste of money unless you modify the air box or add cold air intake and dyno tests prove this.

Any claims of improved performance or fuel economy are wishful thinking and non-tested anecdotes. Don't waste your time and money on a drop-in filter unless you actually improve the entire intake system....and even then, don't expect a signficant change.

Do you really think auto manufacturers would pass up on a $5 filter if it boosted corporate fuel averages 10% or boosted horsepower?

You do get more noise though.

Air filters like K and N are made to deliver as much clean cold air into your intake without restriction. The more effortlessly your engine can suck in clean cold air, the better your engine breathes, hence more horsepower. combination of an low restriction cold air intake plus a bigger throttle body and injectors can substantially increase horsepower.

if you watched trueflows demonstration it's only fair to watch k&n's demonstration. i've used k&n filters on motorcycles and my cars. they flow much better than a paper element filter but also cost more and still require maintenance. they must be cleaned and re-oiled according to their schedule. clening kits are available at most auro parts stopres for around $10-$15.00, the same as most paper replacement filters. i use k&n because of increased preformance and better mileage.

I have used K&N. not impressed, no real power or fuel economy gains. the only real advantage I see is it's durable and cleanable, but I hated cleaning it, so I chunked it and went back to a conventional filter.

'91 Chevy w/350 K&N AF works great, easy to clean, and is over 12 years old and still good.
