I have been hearing the inflation rate "not including food and energy" has been rather low compared to the 70's. The last few years it has been somewhere around the 4% area. My question is: what is it really? everything seems alot more expensive recently. And companies think we are stupid. Notice how packages are getting smaller for the same price? Sugar are now in 4 pound bags. Make chocolate chip cookies lately? Recipes call for a 12 ounce bag. Stores sell 10.4 oz. bags now.
Maybe they see how large our waists are growing and are trying to help. Bottom line - we are being charged more for everything but economists say "inflation is low." They are only kidding themselves in my opinion.
Sincerely,
Len N
