Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday to honor our fallen military members - from The War of Independence to the heroes who died in Iraq this morning. Different countries have different ways of honoring theirs; this is our way.

Originally, Decoration Day was started to honor those Union Soldiers who had died during the American Civil War. Later, it became a Holiday to honor Veterans of ALL conflicts.

It is the day when we honor all the American soldiers who fell in battle for our country.Other countries have similar holidays, but not the same one.

our holiday for american soldiers only.
other countries have memorial days, just on different times.
