What would inspire her to do such a thing?
It is possible...but not fun.

I think your mate is being very responsible by not saying no alcohol. Then she is not responsible for those who have too much to drink and may go out and drive and possible hurt or kill someone. There is no reason every get together has to have alcohol. If you can't have fun without alcohol then there is something definitely missing in your life. Also maybe her religion is against it or if it is a moral issue it is her decision. Most parties I have been asked to nowadays have a BYOB understanding. If you want it you bring it. Why should I be out the money for others who want to drink? I think your mate has decided on a wise choice.

Yes it's possible. I have organised Birthday, Halloween, Christmas, and what I call silly parties for adults for the last 6 years and everyone has enjoyed them. The secret is in the music and games you play. The sillier the better, and good food. Providing alcohol does tend to put the cost up as you need to cater for all tastes and have the hassle of guessing how much each person will drink. I think she is being sensible and she hasn't said there is to be no alcohol as you are free to bring your own.

It is indeed possible to have a party without alcohol. My friends and I don't drink . We still have a great time and even better, we remember everything and don't make fools of ourselves anymore.

Maybe she doesn't want those of you who drink to get out of control.
Lots of grown ups have parties without alcohol. They have conversations instead.

I prefer booze and beer at a party, but not if I'm the only one drinkin'. I realize that not everyone drinks alcohol. And that's ok with me.

Why does alcohol have to warrant a good time??? What did you do before you started drinking??? You had fun, i'm sure you do, why not just respect her wishes??? It's one day where you don't have to drink......
