Is Lupe Fiasco the Savior of Hip Hop? His debut album 'Food and Liquor' was great, he modeled it after Nas' 'It Was Written' (arguably one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made)..He has great flow, great lyrical ability..and for all you hip-hop heads out there, doesnt he remind you almost of a young Nas? He's currently working on his second album due later this year...Jay-z and Kanye West have already labeled him "the future of hip-hop"....what do you all think of Lupe Fiasco's skill, potential, and his chances of reviving hip-hop?

Lol i was gonna say Lupe before i even opened up the question..

His rhymes are so sick.. its totally different from the C"rap" you hear on the radio.. he is also finding some pretty good artists and trying to get them into the rap game IE: Gemini, Sway

His upcoming album "The Cool" will definitely wake people up.. Food and Liquor wasn't really marketed enough, but now that he has the likes of Kanye, Pharrell, etc on some of the tracks its sure to go far

Lupe is the future of Hip-hop whether ppl want to admit it or not..

PPL!! listen to these songs and you will realize this:
Pressure
American Terrorist
Lupe the Killer
Mean and Vicious
Dear Fall
We Love you
Real
He Say She say
Emperors Soundtrack
Kick, Push 2

Great question

It's weird. I thought that Lupe would change Hip Hop when I heard "Kick Push," but he's in the minority. He is a great lyricist, but "Food and Liquor" was like a short term thing. He came out and evryone loved the breath of fresh air and his style, but after a few months I guess people forgot about his music. He has potential and skill, but I doubt that he will make a big difference to people that hear the same songs over and over again on the radio and the TV.

Lupe is not the Savior. There is not a single person that will be able to do it. It has to be a movement. Look at it like this, when hip hop was at it's best you had Native Tounge, Diggin in The Crates, Boot Camp, Def Squad and the list goes on. Now you have G-Unit??? See the difference. We need to get back to MCs holding it down together, not for money but for the music.

Lupe Fiasco? Who? As good as Nas? No way man.
And Lupe modeled his album after Kanye West.

Also if you want to here a real MC, listen to "Redman's" new album "Red Gone Wild Thee Album".

Also only Oldschool MCs can Bring Hip Hop back to life

He's tight even better in concert but i wouldn't say he's the Savior of Hip Hop. I mean that whole skater act was fake he loss a lot of points for that and the young heads (25 and under) aren't checking for him. And Real Hip Hop just went back underground

he got potential but hes just gonna go in the pile of REAL EMCEES with talent that have to go underground to get appreciation or are partially mainstream, but get no praise from the younger generation. Kool G Rap, KRS-One, the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, M.O.P. Talib Kweli, Rakim and Nas are all part of this big pile of talent that gets very little credit and appreciation.

now a days to be mainstream you have to have simple lyrics, long hooks and talk about **** that the kids will buy. Either that or be like nas and have all the kids know who they are, except nas's work is too lyrical and the kids dont buy it.

Yeah, Lupe is nice he has his own style too.
He didn't follow everybody elses plan to get on by rapping about money, clothes, girls, and drugs thats why hip hop is starting to get watered down.

WOW. I love L Fiasco and the whole album but he won't save it. He is not COMMERCIAL enough.

And his sound is kind of old school, which is great for folks like me, but for the young-uns they need someone who will take it a different way ENTIRELY.

Maybe his future albums?
