I have a job but it doesn't pay enough for beautiful clothes. Getting another job is out of the question right now. My town is small and has about ten stores. All the clothing styles are for the really skinny (I'm a size 6). I can only afford to shop at clearence racks and there's NEVER size 6 on the clearence racks (stores don't stock enough of them) there are lots of size 4 and below and lots of huge garments. I tried ebay but I don't know the magic keywords to finding nice clothes. BTW, I'd like to project an "I have money" upscale type imagine.

I live in a tiny town in NY state (far from the city) our thirft stores generally suck. I've tried to get into a size 4 but I think I have a better chance of winning $100 million!

Oh yes, and upscale image is merely the look I like.

Bargain shopping is tricky. I don't really know the whole story but I'll try to help
Not your size? Sometimes it'll fit anyway. I've fit in to extra small sizes, and I've also fit into extra large. I've fit into size four pants, and I've also fit into size thirteens. So, you know, sometimes sizes vary, in different companies and different kind of clothes. A way of seeing if something that looks small may fit you anyway, is taking your hands on either side and stretching the material. It may not be as small as it loks, just have really stretchy material that clings to your body a bit.
Not enough stores in your town? Sometime, over the weekend, take a little road trip. Drive, I dunno, an hour, a half hour away, until you find a decent mall. Then spend the whole day browsing through the clearance racks- by the end of the day you should have a new wardrobe!
Cut out fahion mag pics. You don't have to be fabulously wealthy to look great and be in style. Cut out a fashion mag pic of a look you really like, and then imitate the pic, same cut shirt, simalar belt, etc. only with a cheaper version.
Know how to sew? With a needle and thread and a lot of creativity, you can alter sizes and clothes to make them fit you better. If, persay, a shirt is too big for you, cut a little off the back and sew it together tighter for a better fit. You can even make it look more purposeful by using colorful threads that stick out and doing it on the front too.
Good luck!

First off,do you have a planet x-change?They are awesome. You can get great expensive clothes for cheap but if you don't have one try target. It may sound cheap but they actually have some great stuff.I wouldn't shop on ebay much though.Ok,so you occassionally get good stuff but shipping is really expensive and you have to pay a lot more than it sounds like =D You might also try driving out of your town?It might be worth it if you have any place bigger around. Also shop at department stores such as Macy's,Dillards,Kohls,or Belk. They have great designer labels for cheap and the clearance racks are pretty decent. Also to help project a sophistacted look you might just want to stand up a little straighter, act more confident,& smile! It works no matter how trashy you look and it's free!

First of all, if you are remotely attractive and carry yourself well, then it really doesn't matter much about your size or the cost of your clothing. If you feel clothes make who you are than your extremely shallow and probably can blame your poor appearance on this than your clothes.

So carry yourself well and wear clean clothes that are good colors and styles for your weight and skin tone. I am always getting compliments on how nice I look and how attractive I am and I am not a size 6, and I buy a lot of my clothes from second hand stores ( by choice). I can buy three skirts and tops and accessories for less than $20.00. I suggest you do this and worry more about how you present yourself to the world.

Hi 2 Fat,

Since you live in a small town, the high end stores aren't there.

I love good, upscale clothes as well, but I hate shopping.

Try Macy's and Nordstroms online stores for the following designers: Jones of New York, Kasper, Liz Claiborne (for casual clothes) and Chaus. Especially check their clearance or sale sites.

Well I'm pretty sure there's probaly somewhere where you can buy t-shirts or you can even try to drop some pounds and try to fit in a size four . You can also probaly like go out of town and go to like a bargain store or like a thrifty store where the clothes and shirts are only like $2.00 and there mostly really nice clothes and u might catch some name brand clothes too. good luck and even if you began to lose weight you can become more healthier email me and let me know how it went.

Well if there's only 10 stores in your town you need to shop online. Try the sites listed below. And remember you don't need to spend a lot of money on something for it to beautiful and classy. Good Luck.

you definitely have to start trolling the internet. always buy out of season so that you can get with the good sales, as a size 6 you should be able to have a large choice. try american apparel for good cotton stylish basics. you can also try deferred billing on sites like newport news or j jill or spiegel. these sites have some good stuff and some bad but it is def worth the time to look through it all if saving money is your thing. also check out anthropologie.com sale section for tops and tees...sometimes they have really good deals. ebay is a must, i got so much new banana republic, j crew & designer stuff---it's worth the time if you get a new pair of steve madden shoes for 25.00 instead of 90.00?

are there any platos closets near you? they sell used clothes for less, and they are all teen brand names. they give you money for your clothes too. i always sell my stuff there. i would try ebay again and look for the LOTS like 20 pieces of clothes, you'll get a ton of stuff and the stuff you dont want you can sell to get more money to your friends, to a place like platos closet or back on ebay. im actually putting a big lot on like that right now. unfortunetly im a bit smaller than you jeans wise good luck though. try forever 21 online, they are always cheap, and have a sale section. if you can get to a mall trying things on better

Since the answers above address what you were asking I just have a comment.
Being 22 and a size 6 , it should be very easy to find clothes anywhere!! Too fat????? I highly doubt it.

Why project an upscale look? Just be yourself. People who are actually rich dont even really care about what they wear. Because they know its just clothes. Just wear clean normal clothes and be happy and healthy. Thats all.
